The government tried to rush through interim donation laws for the next election that massively increase public funding to the major parties while reducing or maintaining it for minor parties and independents. I argued that this does not create the level playing field a healthy democracy needs, may not reduce opportunities for corruption and the expert panel on donations should have reported on proposals.
