Polluting Plastics

Polluting Plastics

We urgently need to reform our waste management system to produce less and reuse what we produce. Plastic remains a serious problem which has so many impacts from littering the public domain to poisoning our fish supply. I will follow up in Parliament about establishing a circular economy but while state government policies fail us, community efforts to are vital to help prevent plastic pollution.

Community organisation Take 3 for the Sea is encouraging people to take three pieces of rubbish when they leave a beach or waterway and I will join founder Tim Silverwood and Clr Jess Miller this Saturday 25 May for a community clean-up day of our beautiful Rushcutters Bay Park, between 10am-12 noon. Take 3 for the Sea is also screening the film ‘2040’ at the Palace Verona Cinema, Paddington Friday 24 May at 5pm. The documentary provides hope, showing us at how the world could look in 2040 if the world adopted the sustainability solutions available. Details: HERE
