Pyrmont Planning

Pyrmont Planning

Pyrmont is a fantastic place to live which has supported high population densities while keeping its village vibe in contrast to the adjacent CBD because of its midrise streetscapes and pockets of carefully planned high rise.

The government has imposed huge development targets for the precinct that would see commercial floorspace swell to support 23,000 new workers and introduce 8,000 new residents. I share Pyrmont residents’ concerns that the targets could compromise liveability, amenity and village character.

The City of Sydney is consulting on how to deliver these government imposed targets. My submission stressed that the government must first honour its promise to end greyhound racing at Wentworth Park and return the public land to the community. The government must also abandon planned changes to the Western Distributor which are projected to erode traffic congestion in the peninsula.

My submission supported residents’ concerns about the focus on commercial development, overdevelopment, the need for affordable housing and construction impacts.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
