Route 333 from North Bondi to Circular Quay, is the highest patronised bus route in Greater Sydney and operates at frequencies as high as every 2-3 mins during the weekday peak periods. Route 333 services also operate with high capacity articulated buses across the day to provide additional capacity along the corridor.
Analysis of Opal ticketing data for September 2022 on route 333 shows that capacity is generally available on most bus services during peak periods. There is no current plan to increase the number of route 333 services during weekday peak periods. The current service level is sufficient to meet the current level of demand.
When planning service changes, Transport for NSW considers a range of factors including feedback received from commuters, bus operators and other stakeholders. Transport for NSW assesses this against current and future growth in the wider region, as well as current and emerging travel patterns drawn from Opal data. Transport for NSW regularly monitors demand across all routes including route 333 and, where necessary, adjust frequencies in response to changed demand, with consideration to operational and funding constraints.
