Have your say and help shape the future of reducing family, domestic and sexual violence in Australia

The next National Plan

The Australian Government is developing the next National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children (the National Plan).

The successor will build on the work of the current National Plan in bringing together the efforts of governments, organisations and individuals across the nation to reduce family, domestic and sexual violence.

The Department of Social Services, in partnership with the Office for Women, is running a public consultation for individuals and organisations across Australia to have a say and help us develop the next National Plan.

Have your say

Your views are essential to shaping the next National Plan and reducing family, domestic and sexual violence in Australia.

We want to hear from family safety advocates, organisations, people with lived experience of violence, researchers, service providers, frontline first responders, businesses, state and local governments and the public.

Feedback provided during the consultation will inform key priorities and focus areas for the next National Plan at a national and state and territory level. It will also build on the feedback received through the Parliamentary Inquiry into family, domestic and sexual violence (the Inquiry).

A consultation guide has been developed as a visual aid to support you better in responding to the DSS Engage survey.

The public consultation is open to everyone for comment and includes translated options on request.

Your feedback will be part of a broader, national consultation to help inform the design, themes and outcomes for the next National Plan

We are also listening to:

  • A dedicated National Plan Advisory Group with expertise on family, domestic and sexual violence.
  • Professionals through targeted virtual workshops in each state and territory to capture views that are specific to location and diverse backgrounds.
  • Select interviews to address specific issues raised through the consultation that require more in‑depth discussions.
