Re-Starting Local Fashion

Re-Starting Local Fashion

Australian-made clothing and textiles significantly contribute to the local economy and jobs while providing better guarantees on workers’ conditions. Currently the warehousing industry can collect, house and distribute garments made overseas but there is no provision to keep Australian made products in production. In a competitive global market, the absence of product results in loss of business with widespread concern that it will harm the industry in the long term. With Deputy Lord Mayor Jess Scully, I asked the NSW Treasurer to consider ways to re-open NSW fashion and textile factories under strict health and safety protocols, to keep Australian-made brands in business. Our request > HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
