Ruth Kesterman and Holdsworth Community

Ruth Kesterman and Holdsworth Community

(Community Recognition Statement, Legislative Assembly, NSW Parliament)

On behalf of the Sydney electorate, I'd like to record the seven years of dedicated service of Holdsworth Community CEO Ruth Kestermann.

During her time as CEO, Ruth made an extraordinary contribution to Holdsworth and the vulnerable communities the organisation supports.

Ruth's strong, visionary leadership led service provision centred on personalised support and connection in the community and the home. Holdsworth Community's programs support healthy ageing, living with a disability and young families with education, activities, food delivery, community transport and one-on-one support through in‑home visits.

As Member for Sydney, I've valued Ruth's insight about local needs and witnessed her commitment to social equality and progressive solutions to address social isolation and housing affordability. In 2018 Ruth introduced Holdsworth's innovative HomeShare program, matching older people who are living alone with a person looking for affordable accommodation and companionship. Already a success, HomeShare showcases how mutually beneficial community-based solutions can be life-changing and life-enhancing.

I welcome incoming CEO Jason Malone and look forward to seeing Holdsworth's important work continue. I congratulate and thank Ruth Kestermann for her commitment to supporting vulnerable people and her excellent leadership of Holdsworth Community.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
