Parliament unanimously supported my motion to seriously consider the sensible recommendations of the “vibrant and safe Sydney” Citizen’s Jury to reduce late night violence. The 43 randomly selected participants met police, experts, St Vincent’s Hospital and City of Sydney staff, visited late night hotspots and took submissions. Recommendations covered diversity, transport, policing, education and licensing and included extending the entire metropolitan public transport network all night on weekends, and exempting good venues from the lockouts.
