Selwyn Street Boarding Houses
The City of Sydney has commissioned a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) to understand the potential social impacts of the proposed development at 58-60 & 62-64 Selwyn Street, Paddington. The existing buildings operate as a 32-bedroom boarding house which owners want to convert into four private dwellings, leaving more than 30 people without a home (D/2023/700).
The survey aims to gather insights on how the proposal may impact the local neighbourhood and identify mitigation or enhancement measures that could be implemented during the design, construction and/or operation of the proposed development. The survey should take approximately 5 – 10 minutes to complete, and all responses will be kept anonymous. This survey will be open until 5pm on Wednesday 2 October 2024. Fill out the survey > HERE.
I took residents and neighbours to meet with the Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading and have asked the Minister for Planning to introduce better protections for boarding house tenants.
