The 2019 Seniors Festival is on Wednesday 13 to Sunday 24 February, with concerts, Expo, comedy show, grants for local events and Local Achievement Awards. In the Sydney electorate, ACON was funded for LGBTI Seniors Visibility and Story Sharing Day, Council on the Ageing for the seminar Who's fault is it?, the Powerhouse for Seniors Day at Museums Discovery Centre, the NSW Users and AIDS Association for Navigating the Health System workshop, WEA Sydney for Try Something New. This year, I congratulate Doreen Garrick President of the Goodwin Village Residents Committee for her leadership in the retirement village, Surry Hills Police Senior Leading Constable Craig Parkinson for his work improving safety for older people and the Milk Crate Theatre for the Creative Ageing & Late Career Artist Training programs. These awards remind us about the ongoing contribution older people make to our communities.
