I’ve asked the Minister for Transport and Roads to expand the feasibility review of shore-to-ship power at White Bay to assess environmental outcomes of new technologies and to cover other terminals like the Overseas Passenger Terminal and Garden Island. Noise and air pollution from constantly running dirty generators to keep birthed ships powered is a serious health and environmental problem for adjacent communities but there are solutions and I hope this review results in mandatory shore-to-ship power supply at all city ports.
