Short Term Letting

A new Code of Conduct with obligations on short term letting guests, hosts and operating platforms will start on 18 December. Hosts in strata will have to notify direct neighbours that an apartment will be offered for short term accommodation. My amendment that passed Parliament in 2018 has enabled the code to provide for a mandatory registration system which will start next year. The registration system will ensure compliance with the code and planning laws.

I don’t believe that we have the balance right to stop short term letting getting out of hand when the tourist industry gets back into swing, however the code will provide affected neighbours with options to pursue problems.
