Following rumours that the Sirius building may be sold to the developer of the Opal Tower, I joined Lord Mayor Clover Moore, Jamie Parker MP and the Save Our Sirius campaign to urge the Premier to retain this structurally sound, purpose built, iconic building: HERE
At a time of escalating homelessness, eroded inner city housing affordability, and a social housing waiting list of 60,000 families, the Sirius is publicly owned and ready to house people who are homeless, key workers and social housing tenants now. It would be a disastrous outcome if the building is demolished and replaced with another apartment building that has defects. After The Sydney Morning Herald reported our open letter, the Opal Tower consortium withdrew from the tender sale process: HERE. I continue to oppose the sale of Sirius.
