I was extremely disappointed to see photos circulating online of young men wearing “Z” t-shirts, a symbol of pride in the Russian attack on Ukraine, from an event at Sydney Town Hall last weekend. It was upsetting that an event designed as a peaceful celebration of our diverse community was hi-jacked to promote Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. I have proudly stood with Ukraine, and again offer my support and solidarity with the people of Ukraine and am sorry that the events at Town Hall have caused additional distress.
