Street Tree Pruning Guidelines

In response to strong local resident campaigns and my representations, Ausgrid has changed its guidelines for street pruning around electricity cables, reducing the distance between branches and wires outside bushfire zones and requiring an arborist to authorise removal of major branches.
Ausgrid should bundle cables as a matter of course in the inner city in order to reduce the need for pruning.
Under Lord Mayor Clover Moore’s leadership, the City of Sydney undergrounds electricity and telephone cables during road or park upgrades.
Street trees are vital for local amenity and destructive pruning can ruin the streetscape and remover the city’s green lungs. My question in Parliament asks for better protection of street trees: HERE
