The Compassionate Friends NSW

(Community Recognition Notices, 10 November 2022, Legislative Assembly, NSW Parliament)

On behalf of the Sydney electorate, I pay tribute to The Compassionate Friends NSW and their peer support community that offers friendship and understanding to bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents after the tragic loss of a child. The group provide a peer support line, particularly helpful for newly bereaved family members and there are support groups in Sydney at their office, with 30 Chapters across NSW that also provide peer support groups. The Compassionate Friends NSW recently hosted a Sydney Remembrance Walk in the Royal Botanic Gardens, which I was fortunate to attend. People shared moving stories and remembered their loved ones, and the value of the group and shared lived experience was very clear. I thank the volunteers who give their time to manage The Compassionate Friends and those who organised this healing event for their care for others. I hope you will join me in remembering the children lost too soon from our community.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
