Third Australian state begins recognizing legal same-sex marriages from abroad

A third Australian state, New South Wales, has begun recognizing the relationships of same-sex couples who legally married abroad.

Independent Alex Greenwich, the Member of Parliament for Sydney who is just one of two openly gay men in the NSW Legislative Assembly, announced on November 13 that the Relationships Register Amendment Bill, which he introduced in August 2014, is now supported by the state government.
