Trap Neuter Release
I’m sponsoring an e-petition to the NSW Parliament calling for Trap Neuter Release and Rehome (TNR) programs to be made legal. TNR programs help stabilise and reduce cat populations and have shown to be more effective than just killing cats. However, community volunteers running these programs are at risk of breaching laws around abandonment and liberation and therefore cannot access community grants for programs. Community run TNR programs involve volunteers rehoming kittens, and desexing, vaccinating and feeding remaining cats in a street cat colony.
An un-desexed female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats in only seven years and street cats can suffer poor welfare and cause harm to the environment. Sign the petition > HERE.
