Voluntary Assisted Dying Progress
The upper house got through another four hours of debate on my Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill bringing the total number of speakers to 33 so far – including 22 in favour.
There are 42 members in the house altogether and while 22 ‘yes’ votes sounds like a clear majority, two were absent with COVID last week and in the next sitting week one will have vacated their seat. There are no ‘pairs’ in a conscience vote and the sheer closeness of the numbers means we cannot take anything for granted.
I encourage those of you yet to do it, to join the Dying With Dignity NSW campaign > HERE and sign the online petition > HERE.
