Wentworth Park

Wentworth Park

I have urged the government to return Wentworth Park to the community for recreational use when the greyhound racing lease expires in 2024. The previous government promised to remove racing from this public land as part of plans to increase housing density in Pyrmont under the Pyrmont Peninsula Place Strategy.

Pyrmont is already one of the most densely populated areas in Australia and any uplift requires the provision of additional social infrastructure including expansive green open space. Continuing greyhound racing which has nothing to offer other than animal cruelty and problem gambling would be a betrayal of local residents and could undermine the development potential of the region – which the government is pushing as a solution to the housing affordability crisis. Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
