Woollahra Municipal Council Community Support

Woollahra Municipal Council Community Support

(Community Recognition Statement, Legislative Assembly, NSW Parliament)

On behalf of the Sydney electorate I commend the Woollahra Municipal Council for council's community support during the pandemic. In recognition of the diverse communication needs, Woollahra Council worked to keep the community well informed on NSW Health guidelines, testing and vaccination clinics, small business support and local pandemic help initiatives.

Woollahra Council worked with state and federal MPs, advocating for the small business and hospitality sectors to ensure financial assistance and a safe return to operating in time for the summer months.

Council funded programs through Holdsworth Community to support vulnerable older people, people living with disability and families impacted by restrictions through food delivery, transport to vaccination clinics and one-on-one support through in-home visits.

Woollahra Library has had staff reading aloud to people and providing vital social connection to isolated residents by phone and online. I thank the Woollahra Municipal Council and all councillors for this commitment to care for local communities through the pandemic.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
