The 10/50 code allows landowners to remove trees within 50 metres and vegetation within 10 metres of homes in without Council or Fire Service oversight, but provisions were misused. In Parliament I raised community concern about bush fire clearing rules that allow trees to be cut down simply for views and property value, including protected trees and animal habitats.
