I welcome the construction of a temporary pop-up park on Bank Street under the southern pylon of the ANZAC Bridge.

This marks the first section of public open space as part of the Blackwattle Bay Precinct redevelopment – this area will remain a park. Open space and recreation facilities are vital for this densely populated precinct.

For over a century, this land has been inaccessible to the community. The park will have shade and weather protection under the ANZAC Bridge with seating and native vegetation plantings. A basketball half court and fitness equipment will also be kept for the final park. Construction starts next week and should be completed by mid-Spring.
