I encourage everyone to attend the City of Sydney’s Extraordinary Council meeting tonight 6pm at Town Hall about its submission against council amalgamations. Crossbenchers and opposition MPs all support the community campaign against forced council amalgamations, and have told the government they don't have the numbers to force this through Parliament. I remain strongly opposed to forced amalgamations – no evidence has been provided to show that either the City or Woollahra councils should not continue as they are now.
