Elizabeth Bay Shark Attack

Elizabeth Bay Shark Attack

(Community Recognition Statements, 07 February 2024, Legislative Assembly, NSW Parliament)

I thank the Elizabeth Bay community, which recently came together to rescue Lauren O'Neill, who sustained injuries as a result of a shark attack in Elizabeth Bay. I particularly acknowledge the heroism of Fiona Crago, a vet whose wife, Georgia, had earlier that day purchased compression bandages. She was able to reduce the loss of blood that Lauren sustained. I also acknowledge local Elizabeth Bay resident Michael Porter, who, along with other neighbours, helped to sound the alarm and ensured that emergency services were able to come to Lauren's rescue. I thank all of the paramedics involved in the amazing rescue, as well as the doctors and nurses at St Vincent's Hospital who have helped Lauren O'Neill so that she will nearly make a full recovery.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
