Right Recycling

Right Recycling

We are facing a waste crisis with tips reaching capacity and over 14 million tonnes of plastic ending up in the ocean every year. Assessment by the Australian Marine Conservation Society that supermarkets are still incentivising plastic packaging of food despite voluntary packaging reduction targets showing we need regulation. I continue to push for a circular economy based on reducing waste including packaging, diverting or reusing products including food, clothing and furniture, and recycling anything left. While we wait for governments to act, we should keep doing what we can.

National Recycling Week is on 13-19 November and this year focuses on food waste > HERE, composting > HERE and recycling > HERE, making sure our resources can come back as something valuable.

Check the Boomerang Alliance and Australian Marine Conservation Society report ‘Unwrapped’ on supermarket plastic use > HERE and sign the petition to cut plastic packaging by 20 percent and introduce a 30 percent reusable packaging target > HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
