Transgender people in NSW still can’t update their birth certificate without undergoing expensive and sometimes risky surgery. This is not the case in places like the UK, Ireland, Malta, Germany and New York where some form of supporting documentation is used. The Australian Human Rights Commission and the World Health Organization recommend reform and I am calling for submission on my discussion paper HERE.
