The death of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies is tragic, and I feel so sad for their families and friends. My office has been overwhelmed with community distress about their deaths, the police response and calls for action to improve community safety.

We’re holding a vigil 6.30pm this evening Friday 1 March at Green Square Darlinghurst with family and friends of Jesse and Luke. There will be condolence books to sign.

These tragic deaths remind us to redouble efforts to improve the safety and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ people in NSW. The Special Inquiry into Gay Hate Crimes sets out clear recommendations for systemic reform and I will keep pushing for action from the government and NSW Police > HERE
