On behalf of the Sydney Electorate, I congratulate the organisers and supporters of the successful Deepavali 2022 celebrations in Bradfield Park Milsons Point on 29 October. I joined Sydney's Indian communities, families and friends to celebrate with food, music, dance, fireworks, performances and programs, to celebrate this significant cultural event. The Festival of lights welcomes in the Hindu new year and celebrates light over darkness and the triumph of good over evil. I thank the Hindu Council of Australia for organising the event, with special gratitude to Mr Sai Paravatu and all the volunteers, for their outstanding work and generous offers to present all the celebrations, and to showcase Sydneysiders' Indian culture. The event is well supported by Multicultural NSW, small businesses and local community members. I wish our Indian communities a happy Deepavali.
