Blackwattle Change

Blackwattle Change

In response to community outrage and advocacy from the Lord Mayor and me, Infrastructure NSW has scaled back its plans to redevelop public harbour land currently occupied by the Sydney Fish Market after it relocates.

Tower heights have been reduced, there will be fewer homes and the foreshore promenade has been widened.

But the changes only scratch the surface of community concerns. We should not be building 35-storey residential towers that block the iconic harbour from the public and overshadow rather than integrate adjacent areas. More work is needed to deliver a world-class precinct and I will again ask the minister to embrace the City of Sydney’s proposal for a vibrant harbour precinct.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
