Boarding House Loss
I’ve again supported community objections to a DA to convert two long-term boarding houses in Paddington (D/2023/700) into four private dwellings, leaving more than 30 people without a home.
The current housing crisis is leaving people on the lowest incomes with few options for safe and secure housing and continued declines in inner city low-cost boarding houses is adding to pressure on rent and homelessness services. We need new planning mechanisms that can stop affordable housing for many being replaced with luxury housing for a few.
