Following my recent speech in Parliament and my August submission calling on the government to reject revised plans for Central Barangaroo under Modification 9, the Minister for Planning slammed the proposal, particularly the residential tower on the waterfront and the loss of public open space. Modification 9 would see Central Barangaroo swell in heights and footprint, blocking heritage Millers Point and Observatory Hill from the harbor and limiting astronomical surveillance at Observatory Hill. The park promised to compensate for the Crown casino tower would be shrunk and overshadowed.

Central Barangaroo should be planned to create a beautiful iconic attraction and I welcome comments from the minister responsible for determining the project. A final determination has not been made and it is unclear whether proposals will be withdrawn, rejected or changed. I will monitor progress. My speech in Parliament > HERE.
