City Transport

City Transport

The City of Sydney’s updated access strategy and plan aims to reduce transport emissions and make Sydney a city for walking, cycling and public transport. Key priorities for the Sydney electorate include traffic calming in Park Street with wider footpaths and trees; similar work in Oxford and Flinders streets with light rail to the east; and wider footpaths in the city centre, village centres and high streets. There would be more bike and pedestrian friendly infrastructure and lower speed limits, with 30km/h maximum in the city centre and high activity areas.

The plan also includes transforming Broadway into a ‘green gateway’, complete with a cycleway and light rail; light rail between Green Square and the city, with electric buses servicing the area now; and extending Metro West to Zetland by 2030.
