Australia is the third largest exporter of fossil fuels in the world. Australia Institute research shows that the 28 new coal mine projects awaiting federal government approval would mean 17.9 billion tonnes in lifetime greenhouse emissions but approving any more mines means we cannot meet the approved climate goals.
