Darlinghurst Public School parents back campaign for inner city high school

WHEN Emma Cotterill's son started kindergarten, Darlinghurst Public School was half the size it is now.

Harry, 11, is now preparing to start high school, and in that time Darlinghurst Public has grown to 250 students and will welcome four kindergarten classes next year.

But Ms Cotterill, a working mum who has lived in the inner city suburb with her family for more than 10 years, believes State Government policies have not kept pace with the growth.

Sydney state MP Alex Greenwich called on the government to find a long term solution.

"The number of students in the inner city is increasing, schools are full or will be full over the next couple of years. The State Government should be planning for this now," he said.
