Eastpoint Towers Compost
(Community Recognition Statement, 15 February 2022, Legislative Assembly, NSW Parliament)
On behalf of the Sydney electorate I commend the residents of Eastpoint Tower in Edgecliff for their engagement in Woollahra Municipal Council's 'Kitchen to Compost' service.
In 2021, the Eastpoint Tower's owners' corporation embarked on a campaign to educate and engage residents in the Kitchen to Compost food waste service, reduce waste and increase recycling within the ninety‑nine apartment complex. Following a successful trial on one floor, half of the residents now compost their food scraps, significantly reducing the amount of waste going to landfill. With many people in the Sydney electorate living in apartments, council composting programs offer residents an easy, practical way to reduce their personal impacts on greenhouse gas emissions while also helping produce high quality compost that help with food security. I congratulate the residents and owner's corporation of Eastpoint Tower for their commitment to environmental conservation, sustainability and waste reduction.
