Alex Greenwich, the Independent Member for Sydney, has welcomed the news that NSW Labor is reconsidering their support for a 2nd Casino (details HERE).

Mr Greenwich said:

"Labor withdrawing their support for the proposal would help prevent Sydney Harbour becoming a mini Las Vegas"

Mr Greenwich welcomed polling from Newspoll that showed almost two in three voters opposed the second casino:

"voters clearly want to keep Sydney's harbour foreshore for the public, and don't want key parts siphoned off for Packer's high-roller club"

If Labor were to withdraw support, the decision on whether the 2nd Casino would go ahead would rest with Fred Nile's Christian Democrat Party, who have previously opposed the expansion of gambling in NSW.
