Tonight, I’ll take part in the City of Sydney Street Count, which collects accurate up-to-date information about the number of people sleeping rough and in shelters and hostels: HERE. While the count is vital so we have accurate data, we need action too, and Lord Mayor Clover Moore and I will request another meeting with the Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services to urge funding for transitional housing and social housing.

With Clover Moore I attended the opening of the HammondCare Darlinghurst purpose-built, 42-bed residential aged care home for older people who are homeless and have high care needs. Thanks to the City of Sydney for helping to fund this much-needed new facility: HERE
