Jan Macindoe

(Community Recognition Statement, 19 October 23023, Legislative Assembly, NSW Parliament)

On behalf of the Sydney electorate, I'd like to record the many years of dedicated community service of Jan Macindoe. Jan chaired the Woolloomooloo Neighbourhood Advisory Board from 2007 to 2022 as an independent volunteer, giving social housing tenants a voice and a forum to address community concerns. The meetings gave tenants a way to seek support and progress individual and collective initiatives through communicating directly with government departments and local community service agencies.

During the pandemic Jan persevered in adapting the in-person meetings of the Woolloomooloo Neighbourhood Advisory Board to continue online. Despite many challenges Jan played a key role in keeping members engaged, updated on crucial information, and provided a sense of continued community connection when many were feeling more isolated and alone. In this role Jan was a trusted and reliable constant for Woolloomooloo residents and the community tell me her fair and patient facilitation and was much appreciated.

As Member for Sydney, I commend Jan Macindoe for her commitment and service for the people of Woolloomooloo.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
