Local Woman of the Year

Local Woman of the Year

My nomination for Sydney electorate Woman of the Year is Glen-Marie Frost, who is using her personal experience of homelessness to show how this can happen to anyone, and get more public attention to homelessness amongst older women.

See the 2020 Sydney Morning Herald article about her story > HERE. I am meeting with Glen-Marie and the Minister for Families and Communities Natasha Maclaren-Jones about this growing concern.

Older women are more likely to be in poverty for a range of reasons, with an estimated 240,000 women aged 55 years and over at risk of homelessness > HERE. I’ve met with the Housing for the Aged Action Group (HAAG) and asked the government to support a specialist NSW service > HERE. Join the online housing and gender equality panel Monday 7 March 12-1.15 pm > HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
