Menopause
In Parliament I spoke about the stigma, discrimination, assumptions and judgement that is associated with menopause, hindering access to accurate information and support. Menopause symptoms not properly managed can impact on health, wellbeing, relationships, everyday functioning and productivity. For some this can be costly, with people spending thousands on trial‑and‑error prescriptions, doctor visits, treatments and products.
We all need to learn more about menopause and perimenopause – it affects half the population. GPs need to be well informed and the useful resources in the NSW Government’s Perimenopause and Menopause Toolkit need to be expanded to cover all 34 symptoms. Specific resources for trans and gender-diverse people should be included > HERE. My statement > HERE
