Destruction from the Black Summer fires is still having huge impacts on habitat and biodiversity and there is an urgent need to halt further loss. The initial focus must be on protecting koala hubs and regions under consultation for the Great Koala National Park. 
 
We need to start working with communities to transition native forestry to other industries including plantation timber, an industry that is booming, and to start better recognising the value in our forests as significant carbon sinks.
