I welcome today’s announcement that the government will allocate $500 million for a revitalised Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo, with media reports saying this includes a new public square at the rear to reorient the museum and a strong focus on fashion and design.

I joined the Lord Mayor Clover Moore – a strong advocate for the Powerhouse – and the local and museum community to oppose the initial plan to close the museum and sell off the site.
