I welcome NSW Government funding to revitalise the Powerhouse Museum, protect the 1988 Wran Building and provide certainty for the museum’s presence in Ultimo. Since 2014 when former Premier Baird announced relocating the museum and redeveloping its land, there has been uncertainty around the Powerhouse’s future. While our campaigns got the government to withdraw redevelopment plans, years of alternative proposals and speculation affected the museum’s ability to thrive. I will work with the government to ensure the new modest redevelopment achieves a world-class, attractive establishment.
