The government promised that its work to develop a Pyrmont Place Strategy is not about overdevelopment but instead harmonising planning processes across the peninsula. But planning for Blackwattle Bay, including the existing Sydney Fish Market site, is proceeding in complete isolation to the strategy. Massive towers of up to 45 storeys have been proposed for the waterfront – representing gross overdevelopment of the harbour!

Impacts on traffic and social infrastructure as a result of either process will be impossible to determine if they proceed in silo and in Parliament I called for coordination of these planning processes and asked for a community representative on the Pyrmont Place Strategy Steering Committee.
