Redbank Biomass
I’ve objected to the Redbank Power Station proposal which proposes to use forest “biomass” for electricity generation.
The Parliament Committee on Environment and Planning ‘Inquiry into Sustainability of energy supply and resources in NSW’, which I chaired, found that biomass is driving deforestation for power and that biomass should not be considered a renewable or sustainable source of energy. The committee recommended that biomass not be used as a fuel source or be eligible for renewable energy credits.
Using forest biomass for electricity generation at a time when we are on the brink of a climate and biodiversity catastrophe, and when real renewable energy is reliable and cost effective is simply reckless. My submission > HERE. Add your name to the petition opposing this destructive plan > HERE.
