Rodeos are shockingly cruel. Animals like horses, bulls and calves are provoked into “wild” behaviour with devices like spurs, electric prods and flank straps, and manipulated in some form of showmanship. The harrowing stress and awful injuries experienced by animals are so bad that rodeos can only operate with exemptions from animal cruelty laws. All animal protection organisations want rodeos banned.
