South Sea Islander Recognition

South Sea Islander Recognition

In Parliament I gave notice of a motion calling on the government to fulfill commitments made for support and recognition of Australian South Sea Islanders, descendants of Pacific islanders kidnapped and brought to Australia between 1847 and 1908 as slaves to work, largely in cane fields. The motion also asks for the Modern Slavery Commissioner to review the rights and protections of all seasonal workers, including those from the Pacific Islands. My motion > HERE

I’ve also submitted questions about the government support promised > HERE
