I support the NSW Taxi Council pledge for fairer compensation for taxi licence holders. 

These small business owners invested in a market that was controlled by government for decades, with values protected by government guarantees. When the government deregulated the industry in 2016, values plummeted making it impossible to sell them or make up the losses working. They have received little compensation for the up to $350,000 they paid for plates, which many hoped would fund their retirement; many are in debt. The council has also set out a plan to ensure the taxi industry remains viable with protected fares for passengers and better use of technology. See my post > HERE.
