Thank you to the many supporters who responded to my fundraising call-out, which followed media reports suggesting the major parties may back a new model for electoral funding that could disadvantage Independents. My submission to the Expert Panel on Political donations argued that small donations from individuals should be allowed as they don’t pose risks of undue influence. Any new system must ensure anyone can stand for election regardless of wealth or party affiliation.
